Meridian Aquatic Technology, LLC is a Maryland company with manufacturing and environmental design capabilities. As a manufacturer, Meridian produces patented high surface area media products (AquaMats®) that are used primarily in aquaculture for improving survival and yields and in wastewater treatment, both municipal and industrial, mainly for nitrogen removal. As an environmental design consultancy firm, Meridian provides high quality, cost effective design operation, installation and O&M services to commercial, industrial, municipal and governmental clients.
Meridian was formed in 1995. Initially, the Company’s research and manufacturing focus was submerged reef design for beach erosion control. As time progressed, the Company advanced into using its patented and innovative AquaMats® technology to vastly improve water quality conditions in a host of aquatic environments from commercial aquaculture applications to wastewater system design, maintenance and operation. Today, the AquaMats® line of products are in a mature, 15th generation design state after nearly a decade of commercial use and significant R&D investment. The products are stringently tested for durability and environmental safety and are used worldwide in many applications.
